Keira's life consists of one tragic mishap after another, and the only friend she has to rely on is imaginary. As she sinks closer and closer to rock bottom, she is sent to a school-appointed psychiatrist who must try and figure out the cause of Keira's constant misery. The psychiatrist, Leyla , is the first person in Keira's life who she is able to form a bond with. The bond strengthens quickly, and the two of them soon realize they have much more in common than either of them could have imagined. Soon they become lovers, and both their lives change drastically for the better.

Keira is an erotic, sexual fairytale with some of the most sensual love scenes you will ever encounter. Guaranteed not to disappoint, this is one book you don't want to miss.

...possible spoilers...

I really wanted to like this tale of a lonely teenager in her last year of high school who comes from an abusive home and only has a make-believe girl for a friend. The way Keira sees things and is able to block out the cruelness of her reality is riveting and heart breaking and sometimes charming. She is full of such love, if only the right person were around with whom she could share it.

One day Keira is called into the principal's office. He informs her that her teachers are concerned about how detached she is in class and that he wants her to see a counselor outside the school.

There is where things get a bit icky, at least for me, when it comes to issues such as age and medical ethics. If Keira were older (and in better mental health) and Leyla weren't her doctor, I might find their love story very sweet and touching.

True, Leyla tries to fight her feelings for her new patient and, then when her professionalism quickly (very quickly!) wears thin, makes sure Keira is the one to make the first move. Neither wants to be together intimately unless their feelings are true and serious. Yet, I couldn't help but shudder a bit at how these two women come together and form a relationship way beyond their initial bonds over how lonely they both are...

The first half or so is wonderful as is the connection Keira and Leyla share in the beginning. I think I could have respected their romance far more if Keira were older and they had waited (possibly years) until they were no longer in a patient/doctor scenario.

This novel also appears in a mammoth-sized collection of lesfic (edited by Audrey Hart) that all seem to share an oddly similar refrain: a lovely story that focuses more on emotional love than physical but soon descends into a crazy mesh of inappropriate interaction. If only Keira and (other stories that appear in the anthology) kept up the promising beginning, this would be a completely different review.

Keira edition by Audrey Hart Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I tried hard, I really did. But I have to confess I gave up half-way. Not the author's fault, just not my kind of book and I am obviously not the target audience.
A tender erotic story. first chapter may seem confusing. Very Little graphic sex, but very emotional and sexy. It's a real good read. It's more about love and loss and sexual healing. I liked this book. But I think ladies will find the romance very appealing.
Well, it is about sex eventually. But the main theme here, in my opinion, is doing what it takes to survive.

I must admit I bought this book because of the eroticism. When I started reading it, erotic was far from why I kept at it. In a small way I could identify with the character Keira, and was hoping that some good would come to her. In relating her interactions with others, the author paints a picture of abuse very clearly. When I read what Keira thought was a meal, I almost cried. Another reviewer said imaginary friend Tara. I thought so too at first, but too many things happen for Tara to be just imaginary. That it is never truly resolved remains for me one of the highlights of the book. We are allowed to wonder if this doesn't have just a touch of paranormal.

I have read other books by this author and have a few more to read. In my opinion, this is the best so far and will be hard to top. You may guess that I highly recommend this book. It is true. Have fun.
Growing up, Keira's life is full of turmoil and fear. The only saving grace is her imaginary friend Tara, who is the only connection to love she has ever known. Keira, is sent to the vice principals office because she is never involved with her classrooms and classmates, she and her friend Tara, are usually on an adventure somewhere else (in her mind). So she is sent to a psychiatrist, Layla, for help. She finds she has a connection with Layla, and after their meeting Layla gives her a business card (for an emergency).
After a horrible Saturday with her Father, Keira, escapes from his drunken attack and is now alone with Tara in the woods, her life is now full of despair and is hopeless. Keira has less than a dollar in her purse for food along with Layla's business card. Later in the afternoon she and Tara, go to the store to try and buy some food but instead she calls Layla.
After Layla welcomes her to her home, The story becomes wonderful and a real fairytale which I didn't want to ever end. I really liked the dialog and banter between Keira and her friend Tara, who at times, seemed to be her guardian angel. It was sweet and cute and I couldn't get enough of it. I've read the story 4 times so far because of the way Keira speaks and thinks (it's wonderful). This was the third story I've read from Audrey Hart, and to me, it's the best one. This story will put a smile on your face and will warm your heart.
